ALI, Anflocor building 3rd boutique hotel in CDO

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, March 16, 2011—The 3rd 150-room boutique hotel that Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) is building in this capital city of Northern Mindanao is set for completion next year.
Tonyboy Floirendo, vice chairman of Anflo Management and Investment Corp. (Anflocor), explained that they chose Cagayan de Oro because “this key city is considered as the economic gateway to Northern Mindanao, a prime educational center, as well as one of the emerging tourist destinations of the country known for river rafting and other eco-tourism opportunities.”
Floirendo said that the hotel is designed to tap businessmen and tourists in “undeserved” markets all over the country.
The hotel, which will be part of the 3.7-hectare mixed-use development dubbed Centrio, seeks to introduce “new industry benchmarks in Northern Mindanao” and is touted to be the first in the area to offer a full
range of uses, including retail and office in one integrated location.
The hotel is ajoint venture between AyalaLand Hotels and Resorts Corp. (AHRC), an ALI subsidiary, and Anflocor, a leading Mindanao firm with interests in fruit export, real estate, hospitality and financing, among others.
ALI and Anflocor’s three boutique hotels are all set to open in 2012. The first boutique hotel is rising in Bonifacio Global City; while the second is also rising in Davao City.
AHRC Vice President and group head Junie Jalandoni said all three boutique hotels in Bonifacio Global City, Davao City and Cagayan de Oro City “cater to the new generation of travelers that put a premium on style,
location, comfort and good prices in one complete package.”
ALI Vice President Al Legaspi said that the 150-room, eight-story structure would be stacked above the three-story Centrio mall, with its main lobby on the fourth level.
“The hotel has been designed to offer a stylish and warm hotel experience. At the same time, it will provide easy and convenient access to restaurants, shops, cinemas and other retail outlets,” he said.
The hotel will also offer function and meeting rooms, an executive lounge, a business center, indoor and al fresco restaurants, a fitness gym and swimming pool.
The hotel and mall complex will likewise be conveniently accessible to an office building that can cater to the unique needs of BPO companies seeking greater presence in Cagayan de Oro City. (Bong D. Fabe)
